Originally created in 1920 for Italian playwright Giuseppe Adami, who’d requested a scent reminiscent of Bordighera, Italy, his favorite seaside resort town, Villa Bordighera 20, has been reimagined as a bespoke scented candle, Opus Sol Villa Bordighera 20.

To create the original Villa Bordighera 20 scent, Albert Krigler traveled with his family to Bordighera for a summer holiday, staying in a villa designed by Charles Garnier, the architect of The Palais Garnier. There, Mr. Krigler was inspired by the fragrant lemon trees bountiful in the area and decided to blend Villa Bordighera 20 using a lemony, zesty base. That energizing base note served as inspiration to design with our French artisan in the small Mediterranean village of Biot to hand-make a vibrant yellow vessel for the new candle.
